The idea was planted in the mind of a renowned industrialist by late Mr. Mohammed Ali Jinnah almost a year before Pakistan got its independence. It was 1946 when the airline was launched under the name of Orient Airways, a private airline. Later on the name was changed to PIA (Pakistan International Airlines).
Fleet Information
PIA is the official airlines of Pakistan and is completely owned by the Government of Pakistan and operates from its head office in Karachi. It enjoys the status of being the pioneered Asian airline that has flown with the Jet’s and Boeing 777.
Destinations
PIA started covering the international destination in 1955 with its first flight to London. Since then new domestic and international destinations kept getting added to the list of cities covered by the airlines. At present the airline is flying to all the domestic airports and also covers 48 cities spread over 4 continents. Majority of flights connect Pakistan to UAE in major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Sharjah.
Putting aside the religious mind set, PIA took the services from Pierre Cardin to design the uniforms of its cabin crew. This decision shocked the entire aviation industry of the world and has put the airlines as one of the finest international airliner.
Most of us are not aware of the fact that PIA has played crucial roles for the country at different times, be it peace or war time. Since its inception the airline has been working as the back bone of Pakistan’s financial as well as defence structures.
PIA flies both as passenger and freight carrier and has been running in profits. The airline pays special attention towards its women, child and Haj travellers and makes all efforts to make the travel comfortable and memorable.
PIA has been the vision of the founder of Pakistan, Mr. Jinnah, and the same vision has guided the airline to come so far. Get useful information of PIA at Cleartrip.ae
